Pitch Pro 898 Pitching Mound

The Pitch Pro 898 Pitching Mound is the newest addition to our game mounds. It is an 8” mound designed for 12-14 year old athletes. 8″ pitching mounds are used by leagues that play on 50/70 diamonds.

With a longer landing area in front of the rubber, bigger kids will not have any issues landing on the mound – about 76” from the front of rubber to edge of the mound. The pitching mound’s support structure plays a key role in maintaining a solid surface, allowing the pitcher to land comfortably.

Transitioning from a 6″ to a 10″ is a challenge. The 898 Pitching Mound makes that transition easier.

Who Uses the 898?

  • Little League – Intermediate division
  • Babe Ruth’s Cal Ripken – Major/70 division
  • Dixie League – “O” Zone division
  • Pony League – Pony division

Key Features

Fiberglass Core

The Pitch Pro 898 Pitching Mound is made out of a heavy-duty fiberglass core shell. The fiberglass shell will withstand the impact from kids of all ages and sizes pitching on the mound. This mound will also be able to withstand the elements which is important for a larger mound.

Many pitching mounds must be lugged on and off the field constantly to protect them from the rain and other elements. However, the Pitch Pro 898 is water resistant so you can leave it on the field all summer long.

Launch Pad

The launch pad is the black pad that sits in front of the rubber. Each Pitch Pro Mound comes with a built-in launch pad because the turf right in front of the rubber gets the most wear and tear throughout the season. They designed an easy and affordable way to replace this section of the mound without having to make major repairs.

Additionally, the launch pad is easily detached so that it can be replaced. Replacing the launch pad is much cheaper than replacing turf. Pitch Pro makes it easy to keep their mounds in the best shape so you can keep playing!

Larger Dimensions

The dimensions of the Pitch Pro 898 are 124” long, 84” wide, and 8” high. Considering the length on each side of the rubber, there is a gradual slope to the ground. This makes it easy for the pitcher to make pickoff moves and ensures the safety of players making plays near the mound. It also has a 76” stride length. This stride length allows plenty of room for the pitcher to make their full stride and still land on the mound.

Transitional Mound

The 898 is the perfect mound to help little leaguers make the transition to middle school and high school baseball. Transitioning from a 6” rise mound to a 10” rise is quite a challenge for most young athletes. However, the 898 Portable Mound allows for a smoother transition.

10-Year Warranty

Pitch Pro believes in their product so much that they back all their pitching mounds with a 10 year warranty. They know that the fiberglass shell will easily last 10+ years. You can expect to get plenty of mileage out of all Pitch Pro Pitching Mounds.

  1. Jimmy

We needed an 8″ mound quickly for our tournaments this summer. The shipment came quick and we have been very pleased with the quality of the mound. Due to the size of the pitching mound we decided to leave it on the field and put a tarp on it when not in use.

  2. Nathan

Needed a pitching mound quick. Showed up on time for our tournament. Has worked out well for us.
